About the Position

As Design Assistant, you will perform a wide variety of creative, design-driven duties, developing and implementing support systems for the Design team. You will be responsible for assisting in verifying as-built conditions on site, translating field-verified dimensions into base plans in AutoCAD; space planning and elevation layouts; dimensioning and adding critical notes to drawings and documentation supplied to General Contractors; 3D massing studies in SketchUp; assisting in creating client presentations for finishes, fixtures and furnishings for a variety of design styles; maintaining the internal materials library, and picking up / returning samples as needed; assisting during installations, including shopping for accessories; and helping the Design Team prepare for meetings and client presentations both on and off site. In doing so, you’re the Rock Star that supports the Design team!

About you

  • 1-2 years (or more) experience working in the design field
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp
  • Excellent computer skills and software skills: Microsoft Suite and Google Suite
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and reliable. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to excel at details, multi-tasking and working under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; good communicator with excellent people skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to carry out oral and written directions, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Previous experience with task and project management software a plus.
  • Demonstrated efficient time management practices.
  • Located in the Austin area (workspace located in South Austin)
  • Has a valid driver’s license, car insurance and a reliable personal vehicle
