Casual elegance defines the contemporary ranch home tucked deep into Barton Valley, with sweeping views of the greenbelt that make you forget you are mere minutes from downtown Austin. With a soothing, tonal palette inspired by the homeowner’s Sonoma Valley wedding every design detail was thoroughly analyzed to ensure that the selection was working towards the goal of creating refined, cozy home. Wheelhouse was proud to have collaborated with the fine design team listed below, as well as the homeowners.

After designing their permanent home in Columbus, TX, Wheelhouse was called upon to transform a Lake Travis getaway for long standing clients. A striking trim palette, wood accents and effortless furniture were designed to strategically enhance the existing home, creating a casual retreat space on the water.

A mid-century inspired makeover for a small, second home tucked away in the Austin hills. Bright pops of color in the exposed ductwork, hand crafted backsplash tile and furniture accents complement the white lacquered kitchen cabinets and neutral walls and floors. The space is fresh, fun and a perfect retreat for the ultra-cool homeowners.

The addition of an expansive master suite to this Crestview bungalow proves that sometimes bigger certainly is better. The crisp and clean palette defines the home, which almost doubled in size, creating a calming flow between public and private spaces. Highly functional cabinetry elements were designed to maximize storage in each room, and the timeless white tone plays nicely with the contrasting dark floors.

This funky East Austin spec house is quite the gem. The space was created to reflect the unique style of the thriving neighborhood, with artistic and highly custom tile patterns, steel door and webbed handrail. Furnished with vintage and contemporary pieces, the open floor plan provides a seamless transition from the kitchen and living areas making the space perfect for entertaining.
A once raw, industrial space was turned into a uniquely integrated motor club, private venue space, lounge area (with complete bar set-up), and co-working space. Creative & functional, the expansive main space and bar works as well for private concerts and movie screenings as it does for showcasing a vintage car collection The co-working space is a versatile area for creatives and other entrepreneurial types who need a space outside their home or regular office to get work done. Enclosing an original breezeway between a lackluster 1960's home and garage expanded the footprint of a once small house, creating a generous, open floor plan. The large kitchen provides ample storage complete with lit display cabinets and a 'storage savvy' oversized island. The master bath was enlarged to include a double vanity, spacious shower, and built-in linen storage.
“I'm a Home Builder/General Contractor and have had the opportunity to work with many designers throughout my career. Jen and the team at Wheelhouse are by far the best designers I've ever worked with. Their genuine concern for the customer's desires is evident in the integrity of the finished product. They are responsive and professional, and their ultimate goal is for each design to be a reflection of the client's unique personality. I like them so much that I hired them to help with the design of my own home.”

A tired and small kitchen was reconfigured to provide user-friendly features including a foldaway pantry, blind-corner storage, and a double-sided island to seat the young family. Large drawers for easy access to everyday cooking items increased efficiency, and custom detailing on the new cabinetry created a contemporary look which revitalized this 1970s ranch-style home.

Dated tiled kitchen counters and cultured marble bath vanities were updated with a soft, fresh palette including natural stones and luxurious wall treatments. This facelift nods to the contemporary, while still honoring the clients’ more traditional aesthetic.
